BUOY RACE SERIES
The Port Washington Yacht Club Buoy Race Series is the core of our summer racing program, bringing sailors together each week for competitive and enjoyable racing on Lake Michigan. Races are held just outside the Port Washington harbor in a welcoming environment designed for both experienced racers and those new to the sport.
The season features both Wednesday Night and Saturday racing, with courses designed to provide variety and challenge throughout the summer. Divisions typically include spinnaker and jib-and-main fleets, allowing a wide range of boats and experience levels to participate.
Several races during the season transition to distance formats, adding longer courses along the shoreline and additional opportunities for tactical sailing. Whether you race occasionally or compete every week, the series is structured to encourage participation, skill development, and camaraderie.
Course maps, course designations, and race formats are provided below. Be sure to review the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions prior to racing, and check back throughout the season for updates, results, and weekly recaps.
